Who We Are
Workforce Scotland is a collaborative initiative that supports and enables the public service workforce to deliver services that matter to the people of Scotland.
Public Services Are Reforming
The relationship between the state and the public is changing. Public service professionals across Scotland are navigating new expectations, tighter resources, and a growing need for cross-sector collaboration. Workforce Scotland exists to help people working in public services meet these challenges together.
Rather than prescribing top-down solutions, we create spaces where practitioners, leaders, and teams can learn from one another, experiment with new approaches, and build the relationships that underpin effective reform.
How We Support the Workforce
Our work is organised around several interconnected workstreams, each designed to strengthen a different aspect of collaborative public service:
- Dialogue Community of Practice — enhancing the quality of relationships through conversation.
- Facilitation Network — supporting facilitators who help groups work together effectively.
- Leadership Exchanges — pairing leaders across sectors for mutual insight and learning.
- Pioneering Collaborative Leadership — developing new, collective approaches to leadership.
- Scottish Coaching Collaborative — providing coaching and mentoring resources across the public sector.
We also host events — including the Firestarter Festival and Breakfast Club sessions — that bring people together to share ideas and build momentum for change.
